The Fracture Clinic operates:
- Thursdays, 8:30am–12:30pm
- once a month on Monday, 1:30–4:30pm.

What to do before
To attend the Fracture Clinic you must be referred by the Werribee Mercy Hospital Emergency Department. Information about your outpatient clinic appointment is included in the Outpatient access page along with details on how to find us.
What to expect on the day
If you require a splint or cam boot there is fee of $25-$50. Payment can be made by card only. We do not accept cash.

Team Composition
Throughout your journey you may be supported by:
- a nurse
- a specialist doctor
- a hand therapist
- a physiotherapist
- a resident medical officer.
For health professionals
This clinic accepts internal referrals only. Patients should be referred into the Emergency Department. The Fracture Clinic sees patients who have a diagnosed or suspected fracture, or an orthopedic injury.
Procedural information
The Fracture Clinic may use a splint or cam boot.
Referrals to this service are assessed against the Statewide Referral Criteria. Please utilise HealthPathways to assist in making the referral. Referrals which do not meet the Statewide Referral Criteria will be declined.
How to prepare the patient
Please advise your patient that it takes 48 hours to process a referral. They will be contacted by phone to advise them of the referral outcome. Your patient will usually see the Orthopaedic specialist within one week/seven days of their referral being received. If your patient’s condition changes before they see the specialist, they should either contact their GP or go to Emergency Department.
What/when you should not refer to us
Please do not refer:
- neck or spine fractures
- children under 12 years of age.
